Rancho Viejo Solar Facility Meeting
You are invited to attend a Virtual/Zoom Community Presentation regarding the proposed AES Utility-Scale Rancho Viejo Solar facility. The presentation will take place on Tuesday June 13, 2023 at 6 p.m. and is approximately 1 hour long. Camilla Brom, who is a resident of the Rancho San Marcos neighborhood, will be presenting information pertaining to this project, obtained from investigation and research over the past year.
This 800-acre facility will include over 239,000 solar panels, a 4-acre Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System (comprised of 69 large shipping containers and situated just over a mile from Eldorado), a 2-acre substation, and a new high voltage transmission line (running from the facility to just a ½ mile northwest of Eldorado). Concerned residents believe that this proposed facility poses greater risk to the nearby residents and local environment than has been communicated to the public thus far.
Santa Fe County is reviewing AES's Conditional Use Permit application for this project. Once the application is determined to be complete, a Public Hearing Officer meeting will be held (Tentative date July 13th).
